Where is the party???

Sorry for the slow post. With so much going on within the social networks it is so easy to get distracted. Anywhoooo....During my hiatus I have managed to get a few more videos up on my Youtube Channel. I have also been experimenting with different styles, I tried a bantu knot out for the first time since I have been natural. It didn't really turn out as I expected, but everybody else seemed to like it.

In other news, I entered a contest on Youtube for a product line I have wanted to try for sometime. The Nothing But product line is a fairly new company with products geared towards naturally curly/ coily textures. Their line includes a cleansing conditioner, intensive healing mask, clarifying shampoo, cleansing conditioner, pudding for curls, curl wake up spray, curl sealer and the mold and hold wax (which I have heard a lot of great reviews about. Additionally none of their products contain petrolatum, mineral oil, sulfates, parabens, colorants and phthalates (Source:http://www.nothingbuthaircare.com). Fingers crossed I hope I win!! I would love to try it. Let me know if you guys have tried their products and how you liked it :).

Four months and Counting

So it has been for months since my pre-mature big chop. Although I am still learning the ins and outs of caring for my natural hair, I am loving every minute of it. I can say i have not had a "bad hair day" in four months. When all else fails Puff It Up!!

My hair growth progress is not to bad either...If I do say so myself :)

Here is the story behind my pre-mature big chop...Nevertheless I Have No Regrets!!

My budget friendly go-to products

Being a new natural, shopping for products can be quiet tasking. With so many brands, reviews and options, looking for the "right" products for your hair could be a challenge.  I am sure many have experienced the "it worked for that girl on the youtube video, but didn't work for me" or "$14.99 for a bottle of what?" feeling. Being the bargain hunter I am, I managed to find budget friendly and effective (for my hair) everyday products. None of these products cost over $6!

I use these products constantly, from co-washing, banding, moisturizing and twist outs. I have been fully natural for six months and so far I am loving these for both effectiveness and prices. Still working on establishing a monthly regimen (clarifying my hair and protein treatments).

My first ecounter with Lady S

I had heard stories about her, but I didn't expect to meet her this soon. After transitioning for 10 months and a failed trim, I had no choice but to BC (big chop) sooner than I wanted to. Three days after my BC I didn't know what to do with my hair, so I resorted to my trusted box braids.

I kept my braids in for a couple of months and I must say I was really happy with my growth...

Until I washed my hair, and had my first encounter with shrinkage. From what I have learned my hair texture can shrink up to 80% of its actual length when it comes in contact with water. Thanks goodness for banding and bantu-knots.

Plaid, Beads & Sequins

My thrifting escapades within the past few months have not been in vain. I have been able to add a bunch of new colors and patterns to my closet. My absolute favorite find has to be my Royal Blue Beaded Vintage Dress...the honorable mention is so necessary :)

Some other things I picked up...Enjoy

Where it all begins

Hello all, Naa Dedei here and welcome to my world of Pearly Impressions. I am in no away a fashion blogger. Just a twenty something year old college student who has been inspired by so many amazing bloggers ( The Fashion Notebook, KurlsKoilsKinks, The Abby's World, Ciaafrique...the list goes on). My love for all things vintage, thrifted, african print, natural hair and diy (not in any particular order) is bordering the obsession line and I need to get it out somehow :). This blog will be dedicated to all these, and anything else that catches my attention along the way. Enjoy!!
